It has been reported that more than a third of schools have at least one in 10 teachers absent due to Covid reasons, as some students are refusing to wear masks in class or take tests, unions revealed today. Full article here BBC
In speaking to our schools this week they have been reporting significant numbers of staff that are absent due to Covid or having to isolate. With children returning this week it is imperative to supply our teachers with the best measures to keep children’s education moving forward with minimum interruptions.
Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi has admitted that staff absences are likely to rise in schools in the weeks ahead, amid warnings that heads should prepare for as many as one in four absences.
The findings came as pupils are returning to class this week after the Christmas break, with new advice for secondary school and college students in England to wear face coverings in classrooms.
However, a number of children are refusing to do so, according to education unions.
The FFP3 face mask, is it better for teachers?
To protect teachers to the maximum we recommend the FFP3 face mask. The FFP3 is a tight-fitting mask that creates a facial seal and filters both inflow and outflow of air.
Filtering Face Piece 3 (FFP3) masks are respirator masks which commonly feature a filter or valve to help wearers breathe through the slightly thicker, tighter fabric and protect them from exposure to airborne particles. Crafted from synthetic fibre, a well-fitted FFP3 face mask has the potential to protect against inward leakage and capture very fine toxic particles. It also includes an exhalation valve that releases air, to prevent heat and moisture build-up.
This means while functioning in the same manner as any other type of face mask, FFP3 masks are often considered more reliable in protecting wearers against the airborne virus and preventing the spread to others. These are masks worn by medical staff in hospitals.
